Sadales tīkls develops a digital map for determining the price of electricity connection installation

Sadales tīkls AS has launched a new online tool – a map of new connection prices – which makes it possible to instantly determine the price of installing a new electricity connection for most properties. In order to do this, the customer needs to know the address of the property, the required load, and the phase number. The new online tool is available to customers on the company website www.sadalestikls.lv.

Customers are usually in need of installing new electricity connections before building a house or other premises on property that does not have electricity, whereas the question about the price of this service often arises when one is still looking for the most convenient land property. To get an answer, first, it’s important to choose a suitable connection. The required power load can be calculated with the help of the power load calculator available on the website of Sadales tīkls, and additional recommendations can also be provided by a certified electrician. When the customer has figured out the required power load and phase number, the map of new connection prices makes it possible to instantly find out the exact costs of installing a new electricity connection on most properties. Customers can acquire this type of information on new connections at any property – they just need to specify the property address or its cadastre number.

Quite often there are cases when the purchased or chosen property has been inhabited before and it already has an electricity connection – in these cases it is only necessary to restore the power supply. To do this, customers need to submit an application to an electricity trader or in the customer portal e-st.lv of Sadales tīkls. If the electrical network meets the technical requirements and the agreement with the previous owner has been terminated no later than 30 days prior, Sadales tīkls will connect the meter and restore the power supply at the request of the trader for free in a couple of days.

This summer, new regulations on connections to electricity distribution systems came into force, making the process of installing and restoring an electricity connection and changing the load thereof a lot faster, more convenient, and simpler. Alongside these changes, we’re happy to be offering a new online tool – a digital map that will significantly ease the process of determining the cost of new connection installation, allowing customers to plan the necessary expenses in due time. Technological advancements and the needs of our customers spur us to improve our existing services by providing the customers with new possibilities. And we’ll continue purposefully working on this in the future,” Baiba Priedīte, Member of the Board and Chief Customer Officer at Sadales tīkls, underlines.

The map can be used to determine the costs of new connections where the voltage does not exceed 400 volts, the permitted load is not more than 100 amperes and the distance to the nearest low voltage (0.4 kilovolts) line is 50 metres or less. The cost of construction works is calculated based on the ampere fee or a predetermined cost for the construction of one load unit (ampere) by adding a fixed connection price to it. Sadales tīkls publishes the ampere fee on Latvijas Vēstnesis (the official publisher of the Republic of Latvia) every year, and it is valid from 1 May to 30 April of the following year. The current cost for the construction of one load unit amounts to EUR 77.29. According to regulations, 50% of the calculated ampere fee is covered by Sadales tīkls, and only the remaining 50% – by the customer.

It is important to remember that the requested load does not only affect the cost of installing a new connection, but also the monthly fee for the power consumed. The more accurately the maximum permitted load matches the potential power consumption, the more cost efficient the electricity connection will be.

It won’t be possible to determine the construction costs of more complicated connections on the digital map, because they will be set individually after applying for the service in the customer portal e-st.lv, including cases when there are significant geographical obstacles for installing the connection (for example, water bodies, motor roads, railway lines, etc.).

More information on the installation of a new connection, including a step-by-step guide of the necessary works, is available on the website of Sadales tīkls

The map for determining the cost of new connections adds to the range of the digital maps of Sadales tīkls. For those interested, www.sadalestikls.lv already offers information on power outages, electrical network reconstruction works, as well as route and protection zone clearance works.
